What is a Super Heinz bet?
A Super Heinz is a multiple bet that consists of 120 separate bets across seven different selections. The bet is named after the Heinz brand of food products, which has 57 varieties, and the “Super” prefix is used to indicate that there are additional bets beyond the original Heinz bet.
Each of the seven selections in a Super Heinz is combined in a variety of multiple bets, including 21 doubles (all possible two-selection combinations), 35 trebles (all possible three-selection combinations), 35 four-fold accumulators (all possible four-selection combinations), 21 five-fold accumulators (all possible five-selection combinations), seven six-fold accumulators (all possible six-selection combinations), and one seven-fold accumulator (all seven selections combined).
To place a Super Heinz bet, the bettor must select seven different outcomes or selections, typically from a single sport or event. These selections might include individual teams, players, or outcomes such as the number of goals scored or the margin of victory. Each selection is then combined with every other selection in a variety of multiple bets, as described above.
Each of the 120 bets has to have the same unit stake. This makes a Super Heinz bet more costly than just an accumulator on the seven selections.
What is an example of a Super Heinz bet?
Let’s say a bettor wants to place a Super Heinz bet on seven different horse races at a track. The bettor chooses the following selections:
- Horse A to win the first race
- Horse B to place (finish in first or second) in the second race
- Horse C to win the third race
- Horse D to place in the fourth race
- Horse E to win the fifth race
- Horse F to win the sixth race
- Horse G to place in the seventh race
Each of these selections would be combined with every other selection in a variety of multiple bets.
Here are the 120 separate bets that make up the Super Heinz bet:
- 21 doubles: AB, AC, AD, AE, AF, AG, BC, BD, BE, BF, BG, CD, CE, CF, CG, DE, DF, DG, EF, EG, FG
- 35 trebles: ABC, ABD, ABE, ABF, ABG, ACD, ACE, ACF, ACG, ADE, ADF, ADG, AEF, AEG, AFG, BCD, BCE, BCF, BCG, BDE, BDF, BDG, BEF, BEG, BFG, CDE, CDF, CDG, CEF, CEG, CFG, DEF, DEG, DFG, EFG
- 35 four-fold accumulators: ABCD, ABCE, ABCF, ABCG, ABDE, ABDF, ABDG, ABEF, ABEG, ABFG, ACDE, ACDF, ACDG, ACEF, ACEG, ACFG, ADEF, ADEG, ADFG, AEFG, BCDE, BCDF, BCDG, BCEF, BCEG, BCFG, BDEF, BDEG, BDFG, BEFG, CDEF, CDEG, CDFG, CEFG, DEFG
- 21 five-fold accumulators: ABCDE, ABCDF, ABCDG, ABCEF, ABCEG, ABCFG, ABDEF, ABDEG, ABDFG, ABEFG, ACDEF, ACDEG, ACDFG, ACEFG, ADEFG, BCDEF, BCDEG, BCDFG, BCEFG, BDEFG, CDEFG
- 7 six-fold accumulators: ABCDEF, ABCDEG, ABCDFG, ABCEFG, ABDEFG, ACDEFG, BCDEFG
- 1 seven-fold accumulator: ABCDEFG
Only two of the seven selections needs to win to get some payout (one of the double bets would payout). However it would need more than two selections to be correct to make a profit due to the high stakes required for a Super Heinz bet.
