What are moneyline odds?
Moneyline odds are a type of betting odds that are commonly used in North America, especially in the United States. They represent the amount that a bettor will win for every $100 wagered and are expressed as a positive or negative number.
A positive moneyline odd (e.g. +150) indicates that for every £100 bet, the payout would be £150 if the bet is successful. So, if you placed a £50 bet at odds of +150, the payout would be £75 (£50 x 1.5).
A negative moneyline odd (e.g. -150) indicates the amount that must be wagered in order to win £100. So, if you placed a £150 bet at odds of -150, the payout would be £100 (£150 x (100 / 150)).
Moneyline odds are commonly used in sports betting, including in American football, basketball, baseball, and hockey. They are particularly useful for betting on the outright winner of a game or match, as they provide a simple way of indicating the favorite (the team with the negative moneyline) and the underdog (the team with the positive moneyline).
