What are fractional odds?

Fractional odds are a type of betting odds that are commonly used in the United Kingdom and other parts of the world. They represent the amount that will be paid out for every unit staked.

Fractional odds are expressed as a fraction, such as 3/1 or 4/5. The numerator (top part of the fraction) represents the amount that will be won, while the denominator (bottom part of the fraction) represents the amount that must be staked.

For example, if you place a bet at odds of 3/1, this means that for every £1 bet, the payout would be £3 if the bet is successful. So, if you placed a £10 bet at odds of 3/1, the payout would be £30 (£10 x 3).

Fractional odds are easy to understand, as they directly show the relationship between the amount staked and the amount that will be paid out if the bet is successful. They are also widely used in horse racing and other sports betting, as well as in casino games such as roulette.

To calculate the potential payout for a bet using fractional odds, you simply multiply the amount of the bet by the fractional odds. This gives you the total amount that will be returned, including the original wager.

For example, if you placed a £20 bet at odds of 4/1, the potential payout would be £80 (£20 x 4).
